Milan MADE

Now that it’s October, I think back to last October, when my husband and I attended the MADE (Milano Architettura Design Edilizia) at the Fiera Milano. We were invited by the Italian American Chamber of Commerce. Many of the new products featured at the expo are now available in the US. Some of my highlights include:
The hardware quality from Tre-Piu doors was amazing … the hinged doors included staggered jambs, hinges and silent closers, and the sliding doors are extra smooth and silent.
MP Parquet Company featured their wood floor mosaics – varied species of dyed and stained wood that can be laid in endless intricate patterns, from herringbone to harlequin patterns.
As I’ve already posted in My non-tile solutions, I loved the large format porcelain tile slab product from Fiandre, called Maximum that looks like marble, but it’s thinner and lighter, so it can be used in more applications.
Better yet, how about a tile that you can install over your existing floor without the use of glues or mastic … just like carpet tile? Florim Ceramiche Slim/4+ tiles are installed on a water-resistant fabric that is rolled onto the floor, the tiles are laid, then sealed with their special grout. Check out their YouTube installation video.
